It is mystifying to me that some people don't take parenting seriously. I consider having a child to be a very selfish move. Once they are here...poof, your life has to be about them. Sure, some of it can still be about you but not really.

I was also in a hurry for my kid to be older. Yes, she was sweet and adorable as a baby, she amazed me with her intelligence as a toddler and elementary school but WOW, when she turned into her own person it was incredible to sit back and watch her unfold.

I still feel that way. She just called me a few minutes ago, back from a vacation. All of her choices for what to do on vacation were next level. Nature and science and so much more...

Just you wait! All of the time you've put into Sophie will pay off in spades of amazement
