The comments here are no surprise and that is just upsetting.

I graduated from high school at 16 with a plan to work for a year and a half to earn money for college. I was honest about how long I could work before leaving for school and took a job with Pizza Hut.

I had two managers, one super nice guy and Ken, who wasn't so nice. On my third day on the job he backed me into the walk in cooler and grabbed my breasts while pushing me against a shelf of iceberg lettuce.

I was shocked at first and then angry. I pushed him back and he lost his footing and fell backwards.

I went back to waiting my tables. Later I called my boyfriend who was naturally muscular and who was also a bit crazy. He came down to the Hut right away and pulled Ken out of the restaurant and to the area behind the dumpster where he assaulted Ken.

I feel bad that I didn't stand up for myself other than pushing the creep. But seeing Ken walk back into the restaurant with a busted lip and a swelling eye was pretty cool.

Glad to report, he quit a few weeks later and he never scheduled me to work when he was the manager in charge in the weeks before he quit.

This Pizza Hut was the new thing in my community and I made so much money I paid for two semesters and I was very happy I didn't have to quit.

In college I got a job as a cocktail waitress where I had to wear a "sexy"outfit. I was 18. The place was called "The Abbey" and the cocktail servers wore a mini monk outfit- a very short tunic made of a sort of burlap looking material. Gross. My very first trip to a table with a tray of drinks a man grabbed my butt and his finger tried to explore...yeah, yuck and ick.

I put down the tray and tossed a drink into his face.

I got fired.

I taught my daughter to never put up with such behavior. She's experienced it and has been fired more than once because she openly, loudly, spoke to the abuse.

We need address these behaviors quickly and firmly. And loudly. And we need to do so every single time.
