Thanks for putting this out in the universe. I can relate to so much of what you've written here about hope.
When my husband was in treatment we arrived at the center and started to go in but he'd left his little "chemo day" survival kit in our car so I went back to get it. When I was walking back to join him I found a folded up piece of paper stock laying next to our car where I couldn't miss it. It was heavy, like an advertising insert in a magazine. On it was a quote by Samuel Johnson. "Hope is necessary in every condition."
My husband died 19 years ago. I still carry that little quote with me. It has changed wallets quite a few times by now.
