Thank you for writing this. The older I get, the easier it is to give zero shits about what other people think. My face is my face, my body my body. If I am judged only by my appearance, the judges are missing out on someone significant.
When she was little my daughter, blessed with a beautiful face, would get mad at people who told her how lucky she is to be so pretty. "I'd rather be thought of as a beautiful person. People don't bother to look inside." I think she was five when she put this together.
I think mirrors lie. Look at yourself in ripped water. A better place to see all of our complexities.
