So sorry to hear of this most recent setback.

I wanted to let you know that when I was raising my daughter, we, as a family, were sometimes very broke. I worried about it so much, afraid that I was depriving my daughter of some of the same standard privileges of childhood I had enjoyed.

If you ask my daughter about her childhood, she reports it as being idyllic. Both the parts where we had money and did nice vacations and the parts where we couldn't afford to do anything except stay home and work.

I am guessing that Sophie will someday feel the same. The love and comfort of you is far more important to her than any outing or excursion. She would tell you that today (not suggesting you ask her about it...) of this I am sure.
