My step-daughter has been sober for over ten years now. She's never relapsed but her father and I are aware it could happen.

She works for a treatment center but all of her friends were found through going to AA meetings.. They've built a social life that revolves around meetings and being active in AA. She is very social so this alone has meant so much in her recovery.

She was very young when she started using.

My husband and I got help through Al-anon. We don't still go to meetings but they helped us to understand about co-dependency.

Hold your line. Be strong and find a safe place to fall apart and grieve. It's so hard. So very hard. Like walking the edge of a razor.

Until my SD got sober our lives were a mess. If she relapsed I don't think we would go back to being messy. That's all I can really do. Oxygen mask for me first. Etc.
