Imagine being a teacher who is a member of the LGBTQ+ community. And you are not allowed to express this part of your personal life in any way. Is someone going to tell a straight teacher she can't tell her class about the funny thing her husband or boyfriend said?

We need to support the ten percent of our population who move among us who express their sexuality in ways that differ from yours.

Your idea is akin to leaving sex ed out of the classroom. Sure, they'll hear about being gay on "the street" but how much misinformation will be doled out at the same time?

In lots of the United States, gays have horns. Trans folk are demons. Women are Jezebels. Black people are ... you get where I'm going with this? Let's not pretend we've never heard of discrimination.

Let's do our best as a nation not to go back into the dark ages.
