Leah, oh yeah. Unfortunately, yes ma’am to all of this. I’m now in my sixties. I lead most of my medical discussions with physicians by explaining that I am smart and that I care to understand what is going on with my health DESPITE being overweight. I usually ask health care providers if they agree that there is a genetic component to metabolism and being over-weight.

This Tactic doesn’t always work but it has allowed me to weed out providers who simply won’t allow me to participate in my own health care.

Your military wife status makes it so much harder. You have a smaller pool to swim in. I’m sorry for that. Our military should have the finest providers. One of my best and favorite providers (and one who respects me) is ex-military. He says what you say.

Sorry about this. Keep fighting for yourself. My gray hair and fierce eye contact have helped greatly!!!
