Kiki-
What, no tuna casserole? You got lucky, girl.
I never, ever got one of those big cellophane covered Easter Baskets. My mom saved old baskets and refilled them every year. Hershey's kisses (before they came in pastel colors) and the eggs we dyed (if the neighborhood dogs didn't eat them before the egg hunt) plus the obligatory Gold Brick egg, popular in Louisiana (Mom liked them and they were the Easter basket centerpiece. They are the same size as a Reeces Peanut Butter Egg. )
My parents were always operating on a stingy budget. There were five of us kids so maybe that is why (however, by the time I was 6 my three oldest brothers were in high school so it seems like they could have opted out of Easter basket and maybe me and my other brother could have had a chocolate bunny. I'm still bitter)
Love your story!
