Thanks for writing about this. As conservatives find themselves standing more and more on the wrong side of so many "issues", abortion is probably the easiest topic with which to entice newbies to their side and set them on fire.

We've had plenty of evidence of this dumbed down sector of our population. For them, the issues are real and scary and well, fantasy fed by a lot of what you mention in your article.

So much money gets dumped into fighting abortion and there is so much trickery involved. From CPCs who pretend to help a pregnant woman with resources, who fuck with dates of conception to make an inevitable abortion more and more difficult to obtain (and more and more dangerous for the woman seeking it and frankly, more expensive) to the protesters who harass and abuse women in front of clinics.

Here in Jacksonville, where I live, there is a mobile unit parked in front of one of the busiest abortion clinics. They advertise free sonograms and women with limited funds are regularly confused by their signage. and their swanky, Class A RV. This mobile unit is funded, at least in part, by the PGA (yeah, the golf organization).

At A Woman's Choice clinic in Raleigh, one of the protesters shot himself in his foot with the firearm he brought with him to the protest.

I'm truly not surprised that fundie religious groups have adopted Neanderthal positions on a woman's role. Put on your dress, paint your face, curl your long, long B-U-T full hair and pop out kid after kid until your poor uterus wears out or your husband gets arrested for being a pedophile.

People who read your article might want to consider donating to their local abortion fund. If you live in a state that doesn't have these sorts of restrictions, well, donate to the closest state that does.
