I’ve read several on your list. My favorites from your list:
The Glass Castle- Jeannette Walls
Man’s Search for Meaning — Viktor Frankl
Last Jew of Treblinka- Chil Rajchman
Wishful Drinking — Carrie Fisher
And these are some of my favorites not on your list:
All Over But the Shoutin- Rick Bragg
Hillbilly Elegy-J.D. Vance
A Hole in the World- Richard Rhodes
The Same River Twice- Chris Offutt
A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius — Dave Eggers
My Own Country — Abraham Verghese
Beautiful Boy -A Father’s Journey Through His Son’s Addiction — David Sheff
Hunger- A Memoir of My Body — Roxane Gay
Dry- Augusten Burroughs
Night — Elie Wiesel
Tell Me a Story-My Life with Pat Conroy — Cassandra King Conroy
The Liar’s Club — Mary Kerr
Then Again — Diane Keaton
A Paper Life — Tatum O’Neal
Ava’s Man — Rick Bragg
Atchafalaya Houseboat — Gwen Roland
The Sound of Gravel — Ruth Wariner
I read a lot of memoir. Of the list above I think Richard Rhode’s A Hole in the World is probably the one I would suggest. He is a powerful writer and his story of his childhood at the hands of his evil, abusive step-mother is disquieting. I also love Rick Bragg and Augusten Burroughs. Mary Kerr is a standout.
