It’s infuriating that I’m not surprised by any of this. The anti-abortion movement has more than a few ways of spinning things. They lie like a Trump. They invent “facts”, they harass, they break the law. Sometimes these folks have the support of at least part of their community. There is such stigma attached to abortion. People who agree that a woman has a right to choose to terminate a pregnancy don’t always get mad enough to do something or say something.

And that has, seemingly, led to some of these idiots with their lack of understanding of human reproduction to be able to write bills and articles that years ago would have made them a laughing stock.

A fallopian tube is not a womb. An egg and sperm might hang out there but the combination is never going to turn into a full term baby. I challenge anyone who believes this fantasy of misdirection to consider the egg and sperm hanging out in the penis where the sperm comes from. Let that grow for a while. A penis is equally as far fetched in terms of being a viable womb substitute as a fallopian tube.

I still meet people who think that CPC’s (Crisis Pregnancy Center’s) are actually doing anything positive for women.

“Come on over for a free sonogram!”

“We might also mislead you about how long you’ve been pregnant, under estimating the time frame, confuse you with fear and propaganda so you might wait and then watch dispassionately and self-satisfied while you wait just a wee bit too long to regain your original strength of purpose…and the waiting means you now need more money to travel to get your abortion (to which you are still entitled to by the laws of this nation) because your state has made laws that curtail your rights. ”

And so on. And so forth.

In a perfect world, a woman would not have an unwanted pregnancy. Nobody would be raped. Nobody would get pregnant and have their life in danger from the pregnancy. But that isn’t what the right to have an abortion is about.

Is anyone paying attention to the fact that family planning is taking hits too?

I’m 63 years old and back in my day, plenty of people were having sex, maybe even using birth control, still getting pregnant and seeking out abortions. Because a woman has a right to decide how her life is going to go. Anyone who doesn’t believe in this right to choose should probably quit having sex.

I don’t want to see what will happen if R vs W is overturned. I’m just that kind of liberal…
