I’m a Conroy fan. I didn’t love the movie because of Nolte and that ridiculous rendition of a South Carolina accent. A real SC accent is so smooth you can slide on it. Streisand gave herself a vehicle to flaunt her beautiful manicure…almost as well as in The Way we Were. Dammit…why couldn’t Redford have played Wingo.

Redford never would have tasked himself with an accent so complicated.
