I went to art school and learned to draw. Anyone can learn to draw. It takes an amount of patience to see the shapes that make up the whole of something, a bit like looking first with one eye and then with the other, as you describe.

When I think of magnolias, moments in my life begin to take precedence. Sometimes a story blooms from experience. Otherwise, I'm left with visual perceptions and the mechanical way I learned to see a thing when learning to draw.
