I usually pluck from my own life experiences. When we get the prompt there is usually something already there and I can just chip away at it until I find a story. This last one weaves in a few things that help with the settings- my husband is a health inspector who visits foster homes to check them for lead paint. I’ve lived in New Orleans and Casamento’s is my favorite restaurant there . I’ve been to Crater of Diamonds State Park (before it was a state park) when I was 5 years old.

There have been a few prompts that stumped me though. And when that happens it fun to create an entire new place/characters/reality.

And sometimes I’ve read about something that I want to explore further (the rope prompt was a good example of that- I had just read about the man who created America’s Black Holocaust Museum.)

I’m kind of wondering where you men are going to be able to take Barbie! For me the story is sitting there waiting and will be very influenced by my experiences with wanting a Barbie doll. Can’t wait to read what is going to come out of that prompt.

Saturday morning’s I usually sit with my coffee and enjoy reading what everyone has come up with…
