I should also explain that my mother, a wonderful cook, would have inquired as to a guests personal tastes and restrictions before making dinner for them. I have a sister-in-law who won't eat seafood of any sort. I was raised in Louisiana. My mother really catered to my SIL when she and my brother came to visit. Behind the scenes we felt sorry for my brother...and we took him out to eat during their visits to a place where he could get some shrimp creole and my SIL could order a nice steak.
