As a fiction writer, I'm not at all surprised to read this essay. Being a creative, my work is often overlooked, misunderstood and definitely and especially here on Medium, under appreciated.

Long pieces are all but ignored on Medium, whether non-fiction or fiction, so, if a person chooses Medium as their venue and they write fiction, short-story is one format that fits.

I encourage you to try, give us another chance. I beseech you not to slam us. It's not like we're hijacking reader's time from more serious endeavors.
